Following this regulation, the government only grants permits to import cars, not for personal use. Existing regulations do not allow the import of used cars in their entirety. - Buying a Used Foreign Embassy Car
The condition for importing used cars from abroad is to buy them from a foreign embassy. Embassy offices often use vehicles produced in their home countries which are not sold in Indonesia.
Imports of cars by representatives of foreign countries and international agencies are not subject to import duties. However, after changing hands to civilians, the recipient must pay import taxes and import duties such as PPnBM, PPh Article 22 and VAT.
When you want to import a used car that has been used by the Embassy, the adjustment rate calculated is 48.48% of the selling price of the car. Then, 50% import duty must be paid.
- Buying a Batam Imported Car
Basically imported cars can only be used in several areas in Indonesia which have been recognized as Bonded Zone areas or free zones such as Papua, Batam and Sabang. Cars purchased from these three areas cannot be used in other areas.
